With so many potential sources of information about personal finance, advice, loans and everything in between it’s easy to get confused and overwhelmed. Here are some of our tips to ensure you get the right advice and information for you!
BE MINDFUL OF A SALES PITCH
There are many people presenting information at seminars and packaging investment solutions (property, investment funds) into a nice attractive package for selling. Don’t get caught out by people who only give you one option (usually theirs!) or highlight how theirs is the best. While these information sessions are useful, keep in mind the message that is presented and ensure it is useful for you, not just a general sales pitch.
FIRST STEP – GET STARTED
Think about what you want to achieve, set a few goals and then work backward into how you can go about achieving them. We are 42% more likely to achieve something just by writing it down! Break your goals down into bite size pieces, and then create an action plan to achieve the overall objective.
ADVICE AS GOSPEL
As the saying goes, one person’s trash is another person’s treasure. Think about the advice you have read, heard about or know first hand and consider if it is right for you. There are a tonne of free resources online, in Facebook groups and forums/blogs. It’s important to remember not all information is true and accurate before treating it as gospel.
TALK AND NETWORK
Actively make money apart of your lifestyle not just your life. Find common people looking to take the next step in their financial journey, talk about it with them, discuss different ideas and find out where they are up to or what they have seen. If they have already achieved what you want to achieve, try copying what they have done to achieve a similar result.
